中国人民大学的创办与发展：河北篇

河北省，位于黄河之北，简称“冀”；上古冀州是九州之首，历代曾属冀州地区。中国人民大学的创办与发展，与河北有着不解之缘。

地处太行山深处的河北阜平，是一片拥有光荣革命历史的土地。毛泽东同志率领党中央进京之前，曾在阜平城南庄发出了建立新中国的动员令，这里是中华民族“站起来”的历史起点。新时代，习近平总书记冒着严寒、踏着冰雪深入阜平县进村入户看真贫，并在这里向全党全国发出了脱贫攻坚的动员令，这里是中华民族“富起来”的历史起点。这里也是中国人民大学的前身华北联合大学旧址所在地。

与阜平相距不过百余公里的正定，则是一座拥有1600多年历史的文化名城。习近平同志1982年3月至1985年5月曾在这里工作，不仅为正定改革开放事业作出了重大贡献，还留下了很多历久弥新的思想观点和弥足珍贵的精神财富。这里也是中国人民大学前身华北大学旧址所在地。

1937年诞生于抗日战争烽火中的陕北公学，以及后来的华北联合大学和北方大学、华北大学，都是中国人民大学的前身。

2023年5月，中国人民大学党委举办主题教育读书班，走进河北阜平、正定。一是感受到了习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想萌发的丰厚土壤；二是感受到了中国人民大学红色基因与阜平、正定的血脉联系；三是感受到了河北人民推进中国式现代化的生动实践。

运河潮起四海通，无边光景一时新。面向2037年建校百年，望京通州，一座“世界一流、北京最美、独具风格、人大气派”的大学校园正拔地而起。潮白河一衣带水，大运河一水贯之，通州新校区与河北省，再续血脉联系。从“新中国新大学”到“新时代新校园”，京津冀一同向未来，在千年运河之畔，在新的时空坐标下谱写全新的人大故事。

The Founding and Development of RUC（Periods with Hebei province）

Located in the North of the Yellow River, Hebei province is known in short as Ji. Dating back to the primordial period, the Ji prefecture came as the head among the nine prefectures in China.  This region was then put under the jurisdiction of various Ji prefectures in the following dynasties. Up to date on this wondrous land the founding and development of Renmin University of China （RUC）has always been taking place.

Fuping County of Hebei province, which sits deep in the heart of Mt.Taihang areas, boasts of a glorious revolutionary history. It is here in Chengnan village of Fuping County that Chairman Mao Zedong sounded the clarion call and challenged the Chinese people in 1948 to establish a new China before he led the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) to enter Beijing (later the capital of PRC), marking Fuping the historical starting point for the Chinese nation to "stand up". The new era saw General Secretary Xi Jinping in severe cold of the deep winter come to Fuping County in 2012 to investigate the real-life poverty, call on and challenge the whole party and the whole country to fight for poverty alleviation, marking Fuping the historical starting point for the Chinese nation to "grow prosperous". Fuping is also the site of the former North China United University, one of the joint predecessors of RUC.

Zhengding of Hebei province, which is only a hundred-odd kilometers away from Fuping County, is known as a famous cultural city with the history of more than 1600 years. General Secretary Xi Jinping once worked here from May 1982 to May 1985. For the first time of his political career Comrade Xi Jinping took the position of the governance of a large locale as Zhengding County, setting foot for the governance of China. Here Comrade Xi made great contributions to local reform and opening up, leaving many creative new ideas and precious spiritual wealth. Zhengding is also the site of the former North China University, another predecessor of RUC.

In RUC's glorious history, Northern Shaanxi Public University, founded by CPC in 1937 during the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, later on North China United University, Northern University and North China University, these series of universities converged into the mighty force of the founding of Renmin University of China in 1950 and are honored as the joint predecessors of RUC.

Time moved forward to May, 2023 when successively the RUC theme education seminar about Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era was held in Fuping and Zhengding. Organized by the party committee of RUC, the participants, who are also the inheritors, were exposed to the glorious history of the school and with their heart and soul felt three respects: firstly, the rich soil that nourished the burgeoning of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era; secondly, the revolutionary blood tie with Fuping and Zhengding; thirdly, the vivid practice from the people of Hebei Province in advancing Chinese modernization.

NOW the new era turns over a new chapter in RUC’s development. Mise-en-scene is a new campus in Beijing's Tongzhou district, the gateway to the capital. It borders on Hebei province and lies by the bank of the Grand Canal meandering through Beijing, Hebei province and other parts of China. With Chao Bai River running between and the Grand Canal winding through the two locales, the blood tie between RUC and Hebei province is renewed and a new scenario between the school and the province is staging.  

By the time of the 100th anniversary of the founding of RUC in 2037, the new campus will be high-rising on the horizon, so are its aims: "world class, best in Beijing, unique in style, and grand with RUC characteristics."

From "the new university in New China" to "the new campus in new era", the legend of RUC never ends. NOW in a new setting of space and time, by the millennium-old Grand Canal, its brand new story is continuously unfolding in the vastness of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region which advances coordinated development and strives together for a shared future.
